The story of Awaisi Travels begins in 1982 with Al-Haj Khalifa Mohammed Younas Awaisi Qadri Naushahi (rahmatullāh alayh), a man whose life was dedicated to serving the Muslim community.
Born in Jhelum, Pakistan in 1948, he came to the UK at the age of 14 and studied and worked in the textile mills while pursuing his spiritual path under the spiritual guidance and support of Pir Syed Mahroof Hussain Shah Arif Qadri Naushahi rahmatullāh ʿalayh and Pir Syed Abul Qamal Barak Qadri Naushahi rahmatullāh ʿalayh. His deep faith and community spirit led him to establish Jamiyat Tabligh-ul-Islam on Victor Street, Bradford, in 1981 — and from this, Awaisi Travels was born.
At a time when very few organisations were offering Hajj and Umrah services, Younas Awaisi sahib launched Awaisi Travels from his home, helping local Muslims fulfil their sacred duty with honesty, guidance, and care. The very first group left by coach from outside Victor Street, marking the start of a journey that would help thousands reach Makkah and Madinah.
By the mid-1980s, Awaisi Travels became a household name. His brother Al-Haj Mohammad Masud joined him, and in 1991 they opened the first office in Bradford, followed by a second in Birmingham. His daughters managed the Bradford office and supported female pilgrims during Hajj and Umrah, while his eldest son Saeed Younas assisted with visa applications, passport deliveries, check-ins, luggage, and travelled as a group leader alongside his father.
What made Awaisi Travels unique was the personal touch — home visits to explain packages, door-to-door collection of passports, transport from local pick-up points, freshly cooked Pakistani meals in Makkah, Madinah, Mina and Arafat, Qurbani arrangements, guided ziyarah tours, and scholars accompanying every group to ensure spiritual guidance.
The company even leased a hotel in Madinah for around 300 pilgrims, ensuring consistent hospitality and comfort. Between 1982 and 2013, around 9,000 people performed Hajj and 17,000 performed Umrah through Awaisi Travels. Many also joined their Middle East tours visiting Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, and Palestine.
Over the decades, Awaisi Travels developed trusted Saudi partnerships, particularly with the Marzuki family in Makkah, which allowed for fast embassy processing and priority airline handling.
But above all, the business was built on compassion. Many remember Younas sahib for helping those who couldn’t afford Hajj — even sending some for free, saying: “Bring your passport and whatever you have — and get ready to go.”
After a lifetime of service, he passed away in 2015. Since then, his son Saeed Younas has revived the business, leading groups between 2016 and 2019, and now modernising it through Rawaf Mina and the Nusuk platform — offering support to pilgrims from the UK, Europe, USA, and Canada.
Today, Awaisi Travels continues with the same values of service, sincerity, and faith, helping pilgrims fulfil their sacred obligation with knowledge, compassion, and integrity — a legacy that began with a man whose heart was devoted to Allah and the service of His guests.
